Book review: Little Sid: The Tiny Prince Who Became Buddha, by Ian Lendler, illustrated by Xanthe Bouma

Lendler, Ian. Little Sid: The Tiny Prince Who Became Buddha. Illustrated by Xanthe Bouma. First Second, 2018. $17.99 ISBN 9781626726369. Unpaged. Ages 5-10. P6Q7

I like the message in this book. Little Sid, while given everything/anything he wishes is unfulfilled and sets out to find happiness. The fact that he finally finds it in the end, when he convinces his parents to spend more time with him is as true today as it was back then. While the story is great, and ends with a few paragraphs highlighting Siddhartha Gautama, the artwork is not that appealing.

VERDICT: Good story overcomes underwhelming artwork.
