An African-American family with children and a dog teaches about magnets and shows how people’s dependence on magnets for computers, television sets, and other modern technology. Questions and easy activities allow readers to test themselves on the information. Simple drawings show the children’s engagement with their activities and information about the poles, electromagnets, and strength as well as how they are made and multiply. Another book on the subject from 40 years ago is Mickey’s Magnet.

Verdict: With engaging illustrations, this non-fiction book is a great addition to libraries, classrooms, and families to enjoy.
