Book review: The Princess and the Frogs, by Veronica Bartles, illustrated by Sara Palacios

Bartles, Veronica. The Princess and the Frogs. Illustrated by Sara Palacios. Balzer + Bray/Harper Collins, 2016, $17.99. ISBN 9780062365910. Unp.  Ages 4-8. P8 Q8

In this funny takeoff of “The Frog Prince,” the princess wants a pet frog to play with, but kissing the frog turns him into a prince. She wants a playmate, not a prince. After she does this several times, she learns that she can kiss the prince again to turn him back into a frog.

Verdict: Bright, colorful illustrations are fun, and the illustrator creates humor and variety with the princess wearing glasses and the princes having different body types and color. The book also has a twist to solving a problem.
