Book review: Big Bob, Little Bob, by James Howe, illustrated by Laura Ellen Anderson

Howe, James. Big Bob, Little Bob. Illustrated by Laura Ellen Anderson. Candlewick Press, 2016. Unpaged. $15.99. ISBN 9780763644369. Ages 4-8. P8Q9

howe-big-bobBig Bob and Little Bob are neighbors. Although they have the same name, they don’t like the same things. Big Bob then sticks up for Little Bob when Blossom, the new neighbor girl, makes fun of Little Bob. They decided it does not matter if you are a boy or a girl that it is okay to play whatever you want. It has a great message about understanding differences. Verdict: This is a great easy read aloud provoking discussions of showing support to others that are different than you. It is a good book for character education.
