Rabe High LowThis newest addition to The Cat in the Hat’s Learning Library familiarizes young readers with how animals use camouflage to hide from predators. First, we learn how camouflage is an adaptation for survival. The book doesn’t mention evolution of traits. Then, we are presented with several kinds of camouflage found in nature. Examples of creatures with each camouflage trait are depicted in their habitats—including many unfamiliar species. Brightly colored illustrations fill each page with exotic animals and their predators. The information found in this book is accurate and children will be interested to learn about camouflage from familiar characters. At the end of the book, readers can practice their camouflage knowledge with a hide-and-seek page. There is also a glossary of terms and recommendations for further reading on the topic of camouflage.
