Book review: Builder Mouse, by Sofia Eldarova

Eldarova, Sofia. Builder Mouse. Clarion, 2016. $16.99. 32p. 9780544357662. Ages 5-8. P9Q9

Eldarova Builder MouseAngry because hungry Toby keeps eating the amazing sculptures that architect Edgar makes out of food, he leaves their apartment in a search for someplace that will preserve and appreciate his art. His move leads to the discovery of many hungry mice and finally returns to compromise his and Edgar’s needs. Pencil art of a city landscape and Edgar’s magical creations match the whimsical text: “After studying it carefully for some time, they all agreed that it needed to be digested to be fully understood.” A nice perception of the give-and-take in a friendship and delightful imaginative designs.
