Hughes Soldier Boys            Two teenage boys want to join the fight during World War II.  They are from opposite sides of the war (American and German) and both have thoughts as to what fighting for their country will be like, but are surprised as to the facts of war.  The feelings expressed by the main characters are similar to many of the feelings that adolescent boys face, so connections can be easily made even if it isn’t specifically about war.  The writing isn’t particularly graphic in nature, but is descriptive in telling the affects of war on people of all ages, but especially younger generations.
