Book review: Absolutely Truly: A Pumpkin Falls Mystery, by Heather Vogel Frederick

Frederick, Heather Vogel. Absolutely Truly: A Pumpkin Falls Mystery. Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers, 2014. $16.99. ISBN 9781442429727. 335 pgs. Ages 8-12. P8Q8

Frederick Absolutely TrulyThe main character, Truly Lovejoy, the middle child of five has just moved to Pumpkin Falls, New Hampshire with her family.  She and her family are running the family bookstore after her father was injured in Afghanistan.  A mystery ensues in which Truly and her newfound friends come together and unite the town and Truly’s family.  The characters are likable and many students will relate to the issues that the family and other characters have throughout the story.  The story is well paced and each chapter leaves the reader wanting to know what will happen next.  The ending is satisfying and I was left feeling like a sequel would be easily attained and enjoyed.
