Book review: What about Moose?, by Corey Rosen Schwartz and Rebecca J. Gomez, illustrated by Keika Yamaguchi

Schwartz, Corey Rosen and Rebecca J. Gomez. Illustrated by Keika Yamaguchi. What About Moose? Atheneum Books for Young Readers, 2015. $17.99. ISBN 978-1-4814-0496-9. Unp. Ages 4-8. P8 Q8

Schwartz What about MooseThis is a funny story about a Moose who is a little bossy when helping his animal friends build a tree fort. He ends up getting stuck inside but then the others work together and devise a fun way to get him out. The story uses some big words that will be great to increase a child’s vocabulary and start a conversation, such as foreman, imperfections, inspections, etc. I also think this story could start a discussion of how important it is to explain oneself and not just start bossing everyone.
