Book review: Baa, Baa, Black Sheep, by Jane Cabrera

Cabrera, Jane. Baa, Baa, Black Sheep. Holiday House, . $16.95. ISBN 978-0-8234-3388-9. Unp. Ages 1-4 P8 Q8

Cabrera Baa BaaThe end papers are cute little balls of black yarn with googly eyes. The back page has the music and words of the song Baa, Baa, Black Sheep. The author has also written The 12 Days of Christmas, Old MacDonald Had a Farm, One, Two, Buckle My Shoe and many others. The story is not exactly like the song but has different fun things like a swing for a bird, a vest for a bird and a nest for a bird. I also like the page where Little Bo Peep has many tiny black sheep she is shepherding. At the end of the story the little girl has to knit a sweater for the sheep because she took all of his wool and he is cold. I think this is a funny story that young children will enjoy.
