Book review: Just a Duck?, by Carin Bramsen

Bramsen, Carin. Just a Duck? Random House, 2015. $17.99. ISBN 978-0-385-38415-5. Unp. Ages 1-5 P8 Q8

Bramsen Just a DuckThe story uses the word slink so it will be a great opportunity to teach children a new word as the little duck is slinking like a cat. The little duck thinks he will grow up to be a cat. The cat climbs a tree but the duck can’t. Then the cat falls into the lake and needs help and the duck jumps in to save him. This would be a great story for a read aloud and discussion about how we are all different with different skills but we can be unique and help others.

December 2015 review by Melinda Dye.

[Editor’s note: Cat and Duck first appeared in Bramsen’s Hey, Duck! (Random House, 2013).]
