Book review:Holey Moley, by Lois Ehlert

Ehlert, Lois. Holey Moley.   Beach Lane Books, 2015. $17.99. ISBN 978-1-4424-9301-8. Unp. Ages 1-8. P8 Q8

Ehlert Holey MoleyThis is a story about a mole and some of the things he eats while underground and how he gets too big from all the eating.  The colorful collage artwork is made from different cut fiber papers.  The mole is a little different looking but at the back of the book there are two pages that explain what all the different worms, butterflies, caterpillars, etc. that were in the pictures.  There is also a little paragraph that explains what a mole is and what it does.  The art work is very conceptual and may be hard for small children to understand.  The front cover of the book has a hole cut out and the front two pages are different as well with a very small page and one with a hole cut out of it.
