Sylvester, Kevin. Neil Flambé and the Crusader’s Curse. (Neil Flambé capers, Book 3) Illustrated by Kevin Sylvester. Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers, 2014. $7.99. ISBN 978-1442442870. 320 pgs. Ages 9-14. P8Q8.

Sylvester Neil Flambe and the Crusaders CurseIn the third Neil Flambé book, Neil discovers that his family was cursed during the Crusades. He and his cousin, Larry, travel to France and battle the descendants of the family that cursed them. As the series continues the characters become more and more likable and the pages seem to be easier and easier to read. The Crusades are not detailed as the first two books were in terms of history, but the mystery is intriguing enough to keep the reader interested.
