Julia and her Aunt Constance are able to keep only the few heirlooms that fit in their car and they move to live with the lady who bought their house. Julia wants to find her mother, a hippie who left her years ago with her grandmother. Using her Brownie camera Julia documents their travels across America as they search for her mom. Julia finds that a parent is not always the one who gives birth to you.
