Book review: Edible Numbers, by Jennifer Vogel Bass

Bass, Jennifer Vogel. Edible Numbers. Roaring Brook Press, 2015. ISBN 978-1-62672-003-9. 32 pgs. Ages 2-6. P8/Q9

Bass Edible ColorsThis is a great book that teaches children to count from 1 to 12 with actual photographs of different vegetables.  The author gives the actual names of the vegetables in small print by the photograph.  There are five different varieties of potatoes such as Russian blue, Adirondack Blue, etc.  At the end of the story there are two pages where children can count the number of plums on the pages.  The last two pages show how to count with edible numbers.  The book counts from one to twelve and has beautiful photographs of wonderful healthy vegetables. A companion to the author’s previous book, Edible Colors.
