[Editor’s note: The author of more than 400 books in Japan, Taro Gomi is probably best known in the United States for the title, Everybody Poops.  The Great Day was first released in Japan in 1984, with an American release in 1987 by William Morrow, under the title “First Comes Harry.”  This reissue features the simple colorful illustrations which carry the story of a boy who is first at everything from waking up in the morning to going to sleep at night.]
