Book review: Explore Honey Bees with 25 Projects, by Cindy Blobaum, illustrated by Bryan Stone

Blobaum, Cindy. Explore Honey Bees With 25 Projects. [Explore Series]. Il. Bryan Stone. Nomad. 2015. $14.95. 90p. 978-1-61930-298-7. Ages 8-10. P6Q7

Blobaum Explore Honey BeesThe bees are of great importance for human survival, and the book covers this area as well as their communication, architecture, social structure, family, and enemies. Using the same format as other Explore books, Biobaum provides great activities that cross the STEM curriculum. More information about avoiding and caring for stings would have been useful, and the book does not mention wasps as the bees’ enemy or the word “apiary.” As others in the series, it is more useful in curriculum than for individual reading.
