Book review: Violet and Victor Write the Best-ever Bookworm Book, by Alice Kuipers, illustrated by Bethanie Deeney Murguia

Kuipers, Alice. Illustrated by Bethanie Deeney Murguia.Violet and Victor Write the Best-Ever Bookworm Book. Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, 2014. $17.00. ISBN 9780316212007. 30 pgs. Ages 3-5. P8Q9
Kuipers Best Book Worm BookThe author explains how the book was created on the end paper at the back of the book.  The story includes sketches, writing by her 6 year old daughter, photographs of items, and a variety of items make up the collage effect of the pages.  The story is about twins a brother and sister who want to write a book together but Victor the boy wants to count his pet worms instead.  I like the fact that Violet’s words are written in purple and Victor’s words are written in red.  The story they are writing is done in a separate text box with little kid’s handwriting so it is like two stories in one book.  This would be a fun story to read and encourage children to write their own stories.  I also like how the brother and sister work together and enjoy playing together.
