Book review: The Swap, by Megan Shull

Shull, Megan. The swap. Katherine Tegen Books, 2014. 383 pgs. $16.99 ISBN:978-0-06-231169-6 Gr.7+. P8Q8

Shull The SwapJack and Ellie are given the unique experience of trading places, in each other bodies. The movie “Freaky Friday” came to mind when I read this book, except it is a boy and girl who change places instead of a mother and daughter. This gives the reader the rare chance to see the differences in the lives of a boy and girl. Divorce and death of a parent, fitting in and family dynamics are also topics that the book deals with. This story made me laugh, celebrate and cry as the Jack and Ellie dealt with their different families.
