Nine four-page thematic sections feature 26 species of baby mammals and their families showing the infants’ need for food, shelter, protection, and family life. The brief text and appealing watercolors are followed by four pages with additional information on the young of each species. Although the text does not anthropomorphize, the illustrations provide delightful personality. The naturalist author/illustrator developed interest in the natural life by accompanying her ornithologist grandparents in their work. P9Q8 December 2014 review by Nel Ward.
