Book review: Dreamer, Wisher, Liar, by Charise Harper

Harper, Charise. Dreamer, Wisher, Liar. Balzar + Bray, 2014. $16.99 ISBN 97890062026750 352pgs. Ages 8 and up, P7Q7.

Ashley’s best friend is moving and she will be spending the summer without her friend.   Exploring her basement she finds a wish jar. Inside are someone’s wishes. When Ashley opens the jar and reads the wishes she is transported back in time to when the wish was made. Unbeknownst to Ashley these were her mother’s wishes when she was young and revolve around her best friend and Ashley’s namesake.   Through the wishes, Ashley is able to make friendships, trust in herself, and reunite lost lovers.   This is a wonderful book and would highly recommend it to my fifth graders.   June 2014 review by Jo Train.
